Our School
Our school has been serving the Greater Flint area since 1993. We are a privately owned independent school with high standards. Our students work hard and study harder. We believe that martial arts should be more than just kicking and punching. It should influence the practitioner's mind, body, and spirit.
Our School History

Our school was started by Bryan & Paulette Lingenfelter in 1993. The husband and wife team started their Kuk Sool training at a school in South Carolina. After earning their black belts, Grandmaster In Hyuk Suh instructed them to open a martial art school in the Greater Flint area.
Following the instructions of the Grandmaster, the two started a school in Burton, Michigan in 1993. This school was operated under the World Kuk Sool Association. Some time in 1995, they received a new student (Kenneth A. Wright). This student went on to be their first student to earn Black Belt.
Before young student Wright earned his black belt, he voluntarily assisted his instructors in teaching all the classes. Under the guidance of his instructors and the experience gained from assisting, Wright grew into a great instructor and continued to teach as many classes as he could.

In 2001, Wright acquired ownership of the Kuk Sool school and operated it faithfully under the World Kuk Sool Association. In 2010, being led by God, Wright quit his other job and opened the school full time, moving into the location on Davison & Belsay Rd. The school continued to grow and develop the community.

- In 2021, Instructor Wright chose to part ways with the World Kuk Sool Association and rename the school Pivot Point Martial Arts. This has enabled the school to continue to focus on what is important; teaching martial arts to the best of our ability and to help people change their destinies. In 2022, Wright received Certification through Gracie University to make Pivot Point Martial Arts a Certified Training Center for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
